Assessment

Having an assessment completed with your child can be very helpful in determining how to help them thrive at home, school, and with friends.

For instance, assessments can help clarify why your child is struggling in certain areas, and more importantly, help kids, parents and schools understand how to support kids’ learning, increase calm, bring back joy, and help children and families feel better in their daily lives. There are many kinds of assessments that lead to different outcomes and recommendations.

Dr. Anderson has been doing comprehensive psychological evaluations with children ages 3-18 for more than twenty years and is new to the Bay Area. She is an expert in school psychology and can help bridge parent and school understandings of what a child needs to thrive in school.

Dr. Anderson specializes in providing culturally competent assessments to assist in identifying if the following are occurring for your child:

  • Anxiety

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

  • Autism Spectrum Disorders

  • Depression

  • Learning Differences

  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

  • Temporary stressors that are adjustments to a school or family situation

Dr. Anderson provides gender affirming and adoption/trauma informed assessments and understands that intersecting needs warrant special attention.

Assessment packages always start with

  1. Interviews with the parents

  2. Interview with the child.

  3. The exact nature of the assessment package will be determined based on those introductory meetings.
